Full Circle: A New Weekly Interview Series for 2026

A little more than a decade ago, maybe more, come to think of it, I started something simple on this blog.

I emailed members of the OVDRA community a short list of questions and shared their written responses here. The interviews were named Sit Downs. No rush. No polish. Just thoughtful answers from people doing meaningful work in Vision Therapy and Developmental Optometry. At the time, it felt like a small project. In hindsight, it reads more like a snapshot of a profession in motion, where people were in their careers, what they were questioning, and what they were quietly building.

Since then, time has passed and careers have evolved. The profession expanded. Some retired. Sadly, some of those interviewed have passed away. Looking back at the collection now, those early interviews became part of a longer story, a story whose next chapter is ready to be written, and so, I’m revisiting the concept. The format we started with worked well, and remains intentionally simple. A small set of thoughtful questions. Written responses. Space to answer openly and honestly.

Beginning tomorrow, this site will feature a weekly written interview, published every Monday, continuing through the full year of 2026. Some conversations will serve as follow-ups to voices from years past, while others will introduce perspectives that haven’t appeared here before. The common thread is not tenure or title, but reflection. My intention with these interviews isn’t about resumes or credentials, but instead about growth, pivots, mentorship, leadership, burnout, boundaries, curiosity, and staying human in a profession that asks a great deal of us.

This series is one of several new features being added to my VTWorks site in 2026, but it’s one I’m especially excited to share at this moment. There’s something grounding about slowing down and listening without knowing what’s coming next.

If the time between then and now has taught me anything, it’s that some things are worth revisiting and some conversations are definitely worth waiting for. And sometimes, if we take a moment to pause, breathe, and really listen to others, amazing changes can take place.

The first interview of 2026 will post tomorrow morning. One down, fifty-one to go.

I hope you enjoy the ride!
